Maggid has been committed for several years now to a wayward analysis of Jewish klezmer music from the 19th and early 20th century. Various composers and historical recordings were put under the microscope. In this way, phrasings and other musical figures and elements of this genre were revealed. By combining these elements with jazz and world music, Maggid created a unique sound. The band strives to give this ancient music a new life through a personal and contemporary interpretation.
Formed in 2006, Maggid has built up a strong live reputation. In Germany their musical quest was equally appreciated and in 2011 they won the "Mosche Beregovski Nachwuchspreis für Klezmer Ensemble". They won both the jury prize and the Audience Award.
On October the first 2012, the band released it's first full album. It was recorded live at "De Werf" in Bruges, released at “Zephyrus Records” and was immediately picked up by fans of both jazz, folk and world music.
